ChinaAid recently learned that after refusing to allow Gulinuer and her children to visit Alimujiang in the detention center in June, prison authorities relented on July 13, granting the family a twenty-minute visit with the Uyghur Christian leader. Alim’s family was relieved to see him alive, after being met by repeated refusals by guards to allow visiting rights and general efforts to repress news of his condition.
Alim spoke with his wife, and reported he had received Guli’s letters. He was glad to learn that she, too, had received a letter he had sent. He warned, however, that Guli and the children should not expect to see more letters from him, due to the difficulty he faced in sending them.
President of ChinaAid Bob Fu calls on all Christians to continue praying for Alimujiang and his family. “Pray that Gulinuer will continue to feel peace and for the children to be able to see their father at least once a month.”
He urges the international community to pray for officials to relent their persecution, and allow the family regular visitations, as is their legal right. ChinaAid further calls upon the Chinese higher judicial and legislative authorities to urgently review Alim's case and to restore justice. Along the international community including the UN,we believe the arrest of Alim is arbitrary and unwarranted, and his sentence of 15 years imprisonment is unjustified. God has answered our prayers and Alimjan's wife Gulinuer and two boys are thankful for being able to visit him last month. Please continue to pray that they will be allowed a visit in August, and be relieved of the antagonism by prison officials and their refusals.
